SPC-801 is a solvent mix designed for the cleaning and removal of oil, grease, soot, glue, inks and over spray from plastic, glass, metals and painted surfaces. SPC-801 is supplied in gel and liquid form for brushing, spraying and dipping. With no ozone depleting contents, toxic solvents or caustics, SPC-801 is user and environment friendly.

Application Instructions

Recommended Applications

SPC-801 can be applied onto many different substrates but perform a compatibility test by spraying on an inconspicuous area before applying to plastic, rubber or other sensitive materials.

Reduces Health and Enviromental Risks

SPC-801 is designed to minimise health and environmental risks. It is non carcinogenic and contains no toxic elements. It also reduces the amount of hazardous waste generated. SPC-801 is a water based product which is acid activated. Although containing very small amounts of acid, wearing protective gloves and goggles or face protection is recommended (for details, read the Safety Data Sheet)

Avoid direct contact of the product with skin. Wear chemical splash goggles, rubber boots and gloves. Areas in direct contact with product including clothing should be washed thoroughly with water. Product may cause slight eye irritation and harmful if swallowed. Read label and MSDS before use.

Directions of Use

When applied to the surface, SPC-801 breaks the bond between the solid substrate and the residues. Sometimes, when working with multiple layers or combinations of various residues, re-application of SPC-801 may be required.

Coverage - When brushing or spraying a coverage of less than 1 litre per square metre of surface is possible. Where there is
thick buildup of grease and oil additional product may be required. Dipping methods vary depending on substrates porosity. Soft timbers for example should not be left to soak in SPC- 801 as water ingress may damage or require long drying periods. Long contact with rubber and plastic is not advised as irreversible softening may occur.

Physical Properties -
Colour - Yellow Tint
Viscosity - 9000 to 18000 cPs (gel)
SG - approx. same as water.
Flash Point - > 100oC

Preperation - When brushing or spraying all areas not being cleaned that are in close proximity to the application surface should be masked and protected with polythene. It is important that a strong ground sheet be used to contain waste and rinse water. Waste must be tested and treated if necessary before disposal. The use of non-absorbent masking tape is advised when dipping. All surfaces including rubber and plastic should be taped or enclosed by polythene.

Site Conditions - It is recommended that temperatures are above 5 to 10oC. The product works better at warmer temperatures.
Dipping tanks should be covered but not sealed. Tentage is required when applying outdoors to eliminate effects from wind and rain. Good ventilation should be provided to confined areas.

Applications - When applying by BRUSH or ROLLER it is important to use a soft medium and apply generously to ensure an even
and adequate coverage. For best results use airless SPRAY equipment. Chemical resistant piston pumps larger than 2 hp or capable of above 2000 psi should be used.
Nozzle Tip - 0.53 to 0.79 (0.021 to 0.031")
Spray Angle - 65 to 80o
A plastic (HDPE) or metal scraper should be used for removal prior to water rinsing. Vacuum scrapers are useful tools that reduce cleanup time and aid in coating removal. Size and power of industrial vacuum is dependent on job size and budget. High pressure wash and steam cleaners increase removal rates and reduce water usage. Above 2000 psi pressure is advised for large areas and it is important to thoroughly wash steel substrates to ensure removal of any alkaline salts. DIP tanks should be made from PP, PE or HDPE.

Dwell Time - When using chemical removal products the first rule is not to remove them until they have been given time to work.
Surfaces treated with SPC-801 should be allowed to react for at least 1 to 2 hours. It is always important to carry out patch tests when removing over spray or graffiti as the solvent may affect the coatings below.

Handling and Disposal - All containers are HDPE and can be punctured or split if not handled with appropriate care. Pails and drums must be secured during transportation to prevent damage. Lids, cap and closures must be tightened when products are being transported. Neutralising and dilution with water will be required to meet local waste or sewage disposal requirement. Seek advise on local authority requirements before disposal. Spills should be contained and disposed under the same requirements.

Storage - SPC-801 should be stored in a cool dry environment. Extended storage at temperatures exceeding 35oC is not advised and may reduce the products efficacy. All containers must be sealed properly when stored. DO NOT store with oxidisers, acids, reducing agents or combustible material.

Health and Safety - Avoid direct contact of the product with skin. Wear chemical splash goggles, rubber boots and gloves. Areas in direct contact with product including clothing should be washed thoroughly with water. Product may cause slight eye irritation and harmful if swallowed. Read label and MSDS before use.
